Joe Payne cheers on the Colts at a football game.

Joe Payne, our assistant principal left West Jessamine Middle School to be the principal at Rosenwald Dunbar Elementary School. He’s taking a big step, but West Middle Students will no longer be able to see his smiling face in the hallway.

Payne talked about what he’s going to miss the most about being at the middle school .

“Everything, the smiling faces, the high fives in the morning, getting to know teachers, and getting to see students be successful,” Payne said.

Many staff members such as, Guidance Counselor Carrie Dziki, will miss Payne and the impact he’s made at West Middle.

“He is outgoing and hilarious, with a kind heart for kids,” Dziki said. “He has great relationships with students and is always smiling.”

Dziki talked about how she enjoyed Payne’s charismatic personality every day and that she will miss it. “ I will remember his impersonations of Mr. Albertson and how all kids walking down the hall would want to talk to him.”

We wrote this in honor of Mr. Payne and to remember his influence as he is moving on to a higher job. We all miss him and hope for the best with his new job.
